The Avid Reader Award (Norway)

Bokslukerprisen (the Avid Reading Award) is a reading incentive award for 6th grade students, which focuses on the joy of reading. The award was established in 2014.

The participating classes receive anthologies of Norwegian novels written for the age group 10–12. Students then read and vote for the best excerpts and the top five are nominated for the award. Based on applications, Foreningen !les handpicks five jury classes from across the country to read the nominated books and select a winner. During the reading period, a motivational speaker visits the jury classes in order to give the students guidance on how they can become critical readers and how they can justify their opinions.

The ceremony for The Avid Reader Award takes place in relation to the World Book Day in April.

This project is run by Foreningen !les (Norway).
